National Frozen Foods Corp. voluntarily recalled frozen raw green peas and mixed vegetables over Listeria concerns.

The recalled brands include Bountiful Harvest, First Street, Great Value, Live Smart, Market Pantry and Sprouts Farmers Market, according to a press release from the company. The items are sold at retailers including Target and Walmart. The recalled products were distributed nationwide between Sept. 2, 2015, and June 2, 2016. IQF Whole Ginger

Frozen vegetables recalled for possible Listeria

“The frozen green peas and frozen mixed vegetables are being recalled as a precaution with the health and safety of consumers as top priority," the company said. "The recall was the result of a sample tested by the company which revealed that the finished products may potentially be contaminated with the bacteria.”

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections for those with weak immune systems, young children and elderly people. Proper cooking decreases the risk of exposure to Listeria bacteria.

No illnesses from the recalled foods have been reported.

Consumers who bought the vegetables can get a full refund by returning them to the place they purchased them.
